  • ADG:

GrowSafe Average Daily Gain- calculated during the RFI period only.  Not the same as the MBT Test ADG calculation.

  • DMI:

Dry Matter Intake (Average Pounds Consumed/Day)

  • FCR:

Feed Conversion Ratio- pounds of feed per pounds of gain (DMI/ADG)

  • RFI Act:

Residual Feed Intake.  The Growsafe Residual Feed Intake is the pounds of feed required for 1 pound of gain above or below the average for their group.  Efficient animals eat less than expected and have a negative or low RFI, while inefficient animals eat more than expected and have a positive or high RFI.

  • Eff Ratio:

Measurement of how efficiently the caloric content of feed is converted to pounds. Optimizes balance between performance and efficiency. The Growsafe Efficiency Ratio is calculated using 70% of the Growsafe ADG Ratio and 30% of the RFI Ratio.  The Efficiency Ratio creates a balance between the necessity of efficiency and gain; great feed efficiency is only beneficial if it accompanies acceptable gain.

  • Subgroup:

Test group for Growsafe determined by DOB and weight for meaningful data collection and comparison

  • Omission:

If the bull was omitted from testing for any reason, that reason will display. Any bull with no omission information was included in the testing.
